INDEX : Film A - Z | NUTS, COMPLETELY NUTS
TITLE: NUTS, COMPLETELY NUTS (FOU, COMPLÈTEMENT FOU!)
DIRECTOR: Normand Desjardins
PRODUCER: Taxi Film Inc.
SYNOPSIS: A part-documentary,
part-fiction film NUTS, COMPLETELY NUTS introduces us to the extraordinary
characters of Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent, along with the equally
unusual objects and people sculpted from their imagination. |
||||||||||
Normand Desjardins
dramatizes the life story of Patrick Amiot and Brigitte Laurent in a fictional
style yet manages (in a documentary manner) to reveal the creative process
that produced several of their sculptures. |
||||||||||
Docu-style, the film
follows the two artists through their daily lives, the source of their
creative inspiration. We get glimpses of the artist quarter of Montreal,
their studio and the loft where they live. |
||||||||||
Interviews are conducted
by a boorish, surprised Robin (yes, half of that Dynamic Duo; albeit somewhat
“improved” by the artists) who, you guessed it, is looking
for Batman. Batman, however, has disappeared, following an argument and
subsequent car crash in the Batmobile right in front of the artist’s
studio. |
||||||||||
Through Robin’s
eyes and ears we see the artists at work and listen to their observations
about their work and lives. In the process we witness their sculptures
as they are born and come to life. |

“It’s not
hard to understand why Amiot’s work is so popular. Even his most
poignant pieces, scenes of street life in working-class Montreal, radiate
happiness, good humor, and liveliness.” -Eve Johnson, THE SUN |
||||||||||
“The couple’s brilliant caricatures
are irresistible and funny.” |
