Montreal, May 23, 2013—Head for the hills! The Tentacle’s Claw, a family-friendly horror/comedy film in the tradition of classic B-movies, is coming to a theatre near you! The film marks the debut production of Shadowy Souls Inc., an independent film production company based in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The Tentacle’s Claw is distributed by Domino Film Ltd., a Montreal-based company that specializes in the distribution of independent Canadian film.
“We are excited to be working with Domino Film to distribute this movie, the first production of its kind for western Newfoundland,” said film producer Tara Manuel. “It is always difficult for independent films to sign distribution agreements, so the commitment from Domino Film speaks volumes of the quality of the production.” The film is a tongue-in-cheek creature feature with broad appeal that has already earned accolades, including Best Foreign Comedy Feature at the Atlanta Horror Film Festival in the USA in 2012. The Tentacle’s Claw, a feature film by Michael Rigler, was produced with the assistance of the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NLFDC) and Best Boy Entertainment of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.
The Tentacle’s Claw is a black-and-white comedy that recalls the tradition of schlocky horror films from the 1940s and 50s, with camp, over-the-top acting and “handmade” special effects. It will appeal to nostalgic audiences and younger crowds alike. The film has not yet been rated. More information on the film can be found at www.thetentaclesclaw.com.
